This unit covers content covered under the Ecology strand of the NAD SMART Science Curriculum. It is designed to cover grades Pre-K to 4. Each lesson plan is leveled as Easy (Pre-K to K), Medium (Grade 1-2), and Advanced (Grades 3-4) to be adapted to the different grades and students within a grade as needed. Using such, it is flexible and modifiable for single/multi-grade classrooms, resource students, and gifted students.
It seeks to cover the following questions:
- What causes pollution?
- What are fossil fuels?
- What are some endangered animals and how does man cause them to become endangered?
- Why are trees important?
- What is the purpose of soil?
- Where do certain animals live?
- What is a food chain and how do animals get energy?
- What are natural resources and where are they found?
Many techniques and technology aspects have been incorporated in the Unit to not only make the teacher’s task easy, but to also keep the students engaged because learning should be fun!
