All About Birds

Humans used birds in many ways.  The domestic birds or poultry are used by many for food.  Some birds are used as pets, like the canary, and the parrot.  The feathers of birds are used in clothing, for decoration, and for comfort.  Dried bird excrement, called guano, is processed and used as fertilizer.  Before the days of telephone, radio and televsion, birds were used to take messages from place to place.
The teacher will need to read the narrative for the kindergarten and first grade students.  A glossary is provided to help students discover the meaning of some words used throughout the unit.
